We exist to improve and cultivate world wide discipleship.
Matthew 28:19-20 gives the marching orders of Jesus Christ. At a hill in Galilee, during the only pre-arranged meeting set before his death, Jesus Christ gave his last words to his most faithful and chosen disciples. These men and women walked three days north from Jerusalem to hear his address. They were the most committed and their zeal earned them the right to hear the greatest wisdom ever to be shared from God to man.
The command was to make disciples
There is no follow up questions or verse after the great commission. There were no questions. Every person under the sound of Jesus’ voice when he gaev the commission understood exactly what he was talking about. He had spent three years modeling and teaching them precisely what he wanted them to do. They were to be like him and model the life he lived on earth during his ministry, the life of a disciple maker. They were to medel the rabbi in everything he did, they were to follow Jesus.
Making disciples is simple but may not be easy. Like Jesus, the early disciples had to count the cost of following Jesus.
You make disciples by going, baptising, and teaching all that Jesus commanded (Matt 28:19-20).
Discipleship is life and truth transference in the setting of a real relationship.
Fathers disciple their children. Mothers disciple their children. Teachers disciple their students. Friends can disciple each other. Everyone on earth makes disciples. The real question is What Kind?
